well folks, we are approaching, but not quite yet arrived at, the end of our 2021 programming – we have one more edition of framework:afield next week (produced in the u.s. by ben link collins) and then one final regular edition the week after, and then we’ll be taking our much-needed holiday break, taking a few weeks to refresh our ears (and heat our studio – it’s a chilly -18C here this morning!) and coming back to you with new sounds on january 9th. as always, there are plenty of shows in the archive to keep you tided over – we’ve sure you haven’t heard all 639 of them – until we come back. but this week you can enjoy these great sounds, from a new discovery for us, the canadian sound artist dang., a new work from ian wellman, another wonderful release from the forms of minutiae label, and a glorious single-take recording at a frozen lake not too far from here in finland by till bovermann aka lfsaw. and we started it all off with a framework introduction recorded for us by regular contributor william denton. we’ve been a fan of éric la casa’s work since he was half of syllyk back in the early 90’s – it’s as if his technique and aesthetic have developed along the same trajectories as our ears, and once again he doesn’t fail to impress with his new everyday unknown series of abstract sound constructions. they blended nicely with the geographic captures of nikki sheth (south africa), jeff gburek (bulgaria) and paula schopf (chilé). we topped it all off with sounds from italy, canada, russia and czechia from the aporee soundmaps, and an introduction full of hailstones from northern ireland.

autumn colors and temperatures have arrived bringing with them autumn sounds – peter wullen and sophia emmanouilidou (we’re sure we didn’t pronounce your name correctly on the air, and for that we apologise) bring us new soundscape works, while silvain vanot and pierre-yves macé improvise with the streets of paris, and joan schuman gives us a wooly, dreamy radiophonic work. meanwhile the aporee soundmaps take us to poland, germany, the uk and lithuania.

autumn is here! the chill has settled on framework HQ, although we begin this program with a wintery intro, proceed intro tropical rainforests, move onto the water, and take in the smell of passing time. nothing else to add really – enjoy the leaves!

well folks, we’re back! we’ve been on our annual break for the month of august, cleaning the sauna and resting our ears, but now we’re back in the studio, bathing in sounds. we’re now permanently installed in the new framework HQ, although we’re missing things some little things, like doors and a few windows, and the well keeps running dry, but at least the listening is organised. we’ve got some great new sounds to get the season started, included a cracker by an old favorite, byron westbrook, and a compilation we’ve been meaning to get to for some thing, the make noise myanmar project, in support or artists and musicians there. also another great release on flaming pines, this one by liz helman, and of course a selection of recent listener-chosen favorites from the aporee soundmaps. and it all began with an introduction recorded for us in the united states by stephen bradley, more of whose work can by heard in the recent uni.sol_ edition of framework:afield.
