so, we are back on the air after a brief spring break, and we won’t be leaving you again until our annual summer break in august. good thing, too, because we’ve got a lot of sounds to get through, and we think we made a good start with this edition, featuring compositions for cello, synth, organ, voice and location recordings by judith hamann, constructions of field recordings from the sonoran desert by thomas catlaw, found sounds, objects and voice from omaha, nebraska by giselle, and a malaysian forest explored by kah hoe yii, nigel brown, and yannick dauby. we also heard sounds from the aporee soundmaps from italy, scotland, usa, czech republic, ghana, and japan, and a framework introduction recorded for us on brighton beach in england by joseph young.
we also received some sad news just as this show was going out: the experimental music community has lost another great artist, with the passing of alan lamb, incredibly influential recordist of telegraph wires and creator or amazing long-string installations since the early 1980’s. our next edition of framework:afield, #929, coming up this weekend, will be dedicated to his work and his memory.
