well, here we are folks, our last show before our annual summer break. what’s more, we’re just back from travels in the united states and extremely jet lagged, so we apologize if we seem a little hazy. we were definitely a bit hazy when we made this show, and have a few slip-ups to own up to: first of all, we claim on air that we’ll be back with edition #983 on september 6th; this is untrue, as a matter of fact, #983 will premiere a week later on september 13th. what’s more, although we mentioned his name at the top of the show, we completely missed e. jason gibbs‘ wonderful saamleng release, working waterfront, off our list when giving out album info at the halfway point – poof! as if he never existed! but of course he did, and does, and it’s a great album, so we apologize to artist and label, and ask you humbly to go check it out (links below in the playlist).
also, we announced on the air a very generous special offer: francisco lópez approached us about his new release, excerpts featured in this edition, tokoloshe, environmental sound matter from southern africa, to offer us download codes for the short version (the short version being approximately an hour long, rather than the over 4 hours of the full release) to distribute amongst our patreon supporters as a thank you for your continued support. very generous of francisco, and we heartily thank him for his offer, and so here’s the deal: after our summer break, the first framework:afield slot of the autumn season will feature a full airing of the short version of tokoloshe, and after the premiere every patreon supporter at the fan level or higher (that’s a minimum contribution of $5 or it’s equivalent per month) will be offered a download code for the short version as a thank you from us and from francisco for your support of framework radio. not bad, right? this offer will be limited by the number of codes i have available, so if you’re not already a patron, sign up now to make sure you’re safely on the list!
so along with tokoloshe and working waterfront, we also heard several more wonderful releases here in the season’s last show: the latest release by framework favorite manja ristić, focusing on the symbolic power of the number nine; another dig into the body of work of thea maloney, this one from last year featuring meditative recordings from tennessee and colorado; and unreleased sounds from mark gorney‘s european travels, our selection featuring 3 recordings from italy. all this along with recent listener chosen favorites from the aporee soundmaps, and a framework introduction recorded at france’s parc asterix by regular contributor diemo shwarz.
