[listen to the VOICEOVER-FREE edition (patrons only)]
satisfyingly, a 100% self-released edition this week, with all four releases available for streaming and download on the artists’ bandcamp pages – follow the links below to hear them again and support these great artists. tomasz pizio provided his latest release of local field recordings for us, and also sent us a framework introduction recorded in the same sessions as the release: a thawing forest, a newly enlivened stream, wildlife waking up. we also returned to explore another collection of melissa pons‘ collected sounds, this one exploring the nocturnal coastal sounds of brazil. wanted sound, whose bandcamp page consists almost entirely of sound collections for use in others’ sound or video projects, also features this release of newly imagined collages assembled from his other collections. and isabel val sanchez‘ abstract documentary explores the relationship between humans and other bodies of water in the city of târgu mureș in transylvania. this was accompanied by the latest collection of listener-chosen favorite recent contributions to the aporee soundmaps, this week from the uk, australia, the czech republic and the united states.
and speaking of supporting artists, we recently put out a plea on social media, and will repeat it here: we wonder if there is anyone amongst our listenership who knows more about fund-raising in the arts than we do (not hard) and who would be willing to help us develop a better strategy for building framework radio‘s support base. i ask because, while our patreon campaign has been a big help in keeping the show going, it has been largely stagnant over the past several years. patrons do come and go, but it seems to stall out around the current number of supporters, which is not nothing, but still only a tiny, tiny fraction of our listenership. direct appeals on the air and in our published material, or even direct personal appeals, don’t generate much (read: any) response. any advice or offers of assistance would be greatly appreciated.
