happy new (y)ear, framework listeners, we’re back! this is our first show for 2025, and we couldn’t be happier about the sounds in it, although something rare happened, and we featured an album that we already played when it first came out back in 2022! somewhere in the back of our mind, we thought the cover of cheryl e. leonard‘s antarctica: music from the ice looked familiar, but somehow we thought we’d only recently discovered the label, other minds records, with their release of the excellent …we return to ground… by karen power in mid-2024. but in fact, no! we featured leonard’s release in edition #823 in november 2022, although interestingly with an almost entirely different selection of tracks (how did we not choose the stunning closing track lullaby for e seals back in 2022?? we’ll never know). so you get to hear it again, and we’re pretty sure after all this you’ll want to check the release our for yourself (link below in the playlist).
what else have we got for you? a wonderful new(ish) work by old favorite john hudak (we’ve got releases of his here on our shelves dating back to 1989), released by the great sirr.ecords in portugal; new works by the wonderful elsa justel on the ever-prolific empreintes digitales label; a new artist to explore, first time on the show for czech sound collagist uœrhe; and along with all this, recent listener-chosen favorite contributions to the aporee soundmaps (from brazil, tunisia, romania and canada), and a framework introduction recorded for us on a train in the northwest corner of the united states by john banister.
