This show is a (freeform) sound collage made up of various field recordings from the desert areas of the Southwestern USA.
We hear a myriad of sounds constantly, through our lives – every minute, every hour, every day, and every year. Some we can identify, others we cannot. They come at us thick and fast and in a variety of combinations and durations. Randomness and chance are at play.
This sound work is an interpretation of this influx of sonic information. It is personal to me and reflects my life in my location in the southwestern USA. All sounds are real, but the combination and interactions between them are random. It is an artistic viewpoint of sounds that make my life interesting. They are important to me – and I hope interesting to the listener.
Jimmy Peggie is a Scottish-Estonian sound artist and multimedia artist, based in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. He specializes in experimental sound art, radiophonic art, and minimal compositions that often draw from field recordings of natural and urban environments, radio transmissions, and atmospheric elements.
