the latest batch of releases from the great unfathomless label, featuring sounds recorded in a quarry (contre-montagne translates as reverse-mountain, or maybe negative-mountain) in montreal, and the “drainages, vent pipes, docks, electrical boxes and surfaces of steel and concrete structures” along fish point in portland, maine. also sounds from “abandoned industrial sites and the river tagus in barreiro, portugal; the great lake on the island of mljet, croatia; and various locations around thailand,” by our good friend manja ristić; and field recordings taken while standing beneath the canopy of a shop by andy fray: “it was during the really early hours of a saturday morning when i couldn’t sleep and the town was just starting to come to life…” all of this along with aporee map sounds from ghana, portugal, taiwan, japan, and france, and an intro from poland by regular contributor tomasz pizio.
